Hi all,
I've been given some mixed information about how long I can stay on the continent of South America. Some people have told me that the maximum time allowed is 6 months which I found strange as how would people know you've been on the continent for 6 months? I always thought it would be down to the maximum stay you are allowed in each country, e.g. tourist visa for 90 days in Argentina rather then when you land on a continent. Sorry if it is a stupid question I just couldn't understand how a 6 month stay could be allocated if you are skipping from various countries. Mark I noticed you have done 18 months so surely I'm right in thinking this 6 month rule is non-existent? |

Hi Andy,
The information you got is incorrect. If a visa is not required you will get 90 days in every country when crossing the border. For some reason I only got 30 days when I entered Bolivia from Peru but was able to change my tourist visa to 90 days in the capital La Paz. So the good news is... you can stay as long as you want in South America! Best wishes, Mark
