Your site has some really nice photographs and is very well organized! I was glad to hear from you about the forum. Back in 1997 while traveling in South America you relied on the South America Handbook which was very helpful but at times outdated. Its nice to hear about other peoples experiences. Traveling can be one of the great joys in life, but one must always keep in mind that they are far from home and things can go the wrong way quickly.... I was very lucky, but always tried to use common sense. I have seen my share of people getting hurt and in most cases whether they realized it or not they took unnecessary risks... Welcome to the forums of Travel Amazing South America. It is true that South America has a certain fame of being dangerous. I love your excellent tip for a "Travel Safety" category. Common sense takes you a long way but things can change quickly, certain areas may become dangerous. The "Travel Safety" category will focus on sound advice on how to tackle certain issues.

For those of you feeling intimidated I'd like to mention that I traveled 18 months non-stop in South America. It was a very beautiful and life changing experience.
