Default Argentinian Airport Transfers to Palermo

Hi all,
this is my first post and I'd like to say I'm a big fan of the main site it's got some great information for noob travellers and some fantastic suggestions for places to see and things to do when in South America.
I'm heading to South America on 16th January 09 from the UK kind of getting nervous now as it's only 6 weeks away and it will be my first time travelling.

My question is for anyone who has flown into Ministro Pistarini International Airport, I need to get to my hostel which is based in the Palermo district of Buenos Aires. Could someone tell me the easiest way to transfer from the airport to the Palermo district?

I've looked on google maps to see how easy the journey will be, but Buenos Aires has some crazy mazes of streets from what I can see and it suddenly dawned on me that this could be a rather large mission to even get to my hostel!!

I know buses and taxis are the main mode of transfer in Argentina I guess as a noob traveller the main concern is always about been ripped off.

If anyone can help out I would appreciate it.

Many thanks

Andy

Default transport to palermo

Hi Andy,

Just 6 weeks to start your journey in South America! You're going to have a wonderful time! Thanks very much for the kind words. It's great to know you like the site.

There are two ways to get into the city center from Ezeiza (international airport). The cheapest option is to take a bus but it takes ages... 2 hours... and the drop off may be blocks from your hostel. More expensive is taking a taxi (remis) to Palermo but they drop you off at the hostel in about 30 to 40 minutes. The price is 69 pesos (about $23). Always ask how much the fare is when taking a taxi.

Don't hesitate to ask more questions. I'll do my best to help you out.

Best wishes,

Mark

Thanks Mark, I think the taxi option is probably the one to take especially as I would have been on planes and in airports for over 14 hours.

I'll probably have a few more questions in the coming weeks so I may be keeping you busy ; )
