Default Smoke covers Buenos Aires

Buenos Aires, the vibrant capital of Argentina, is covered by smoke. It's bringing bad smells, visibility problems and difficulty to breathe. It's been a week since the smoke arrived from fires in the Paraná area. Farmers burn grasslands frequently for cattle grazing.

The problem is that the smoke is so dense that it's disrupting the wellbeing of the Porteños (citizens of the Buenos Aires province).

If you're asmatic or having other respiratory problems you should consider avoiding visiting Buenos Aires at this time.

Best wishes,

Mark

Default Long-distance transport disrupted

The smog that arrived in Buenos Aires one week ago is disrupting long-distance coach travel in Argentina. The coast guard closed Buenos Aires ports and three terminals north of the city as a precaution. Ezeiza, the international airport is unaffected.

Squads of firefighters and water-bombing planes have battled grassland fires that smothered Buenos Aires in a thick blanket of smoke. The Argentine Government blamed irresponsible cattle farmers using blazes to clear pastures north of the capital. Around 270 square miles (700 square kilometers) was burning.

Inform yourself about departure dates when you're traveling in Argentina.

Best wishes,

Mark
