One of the most fun things about traveling in South America is to be able to get along with the locals. English is not widely spoken so some effort of you is required if you want to get the most out of your trip.

There are a lot of ways to learn Spanish (or Portuguese for Brazil). You can go to a day/evening course, learn Spanish online, with a private tutor or just go for the adventurous option and learn Spanish in a language school while traveling (highly recommended).

We have some wonderful free online Spanish lessons available. You'll see how easy it is to form sentences just by watching the movie for a few minutes. There are four lessons available to get you started. It's a great introduction to get a feeling of how Spanish sounds.
