Great question legar. The answer is more complex. As you know South America is huge, with a diversity that is tremendous. The must see country in South America will depend on your passions. Do you love mountains or the beach? Do you want adventure or tranquility?

Your passion is nature and wildlife. South America will be your dream destination. Its nature goes from tropical beaches to rugged cordilleras, from jungle full of life to breathtaking lakes.

My favorite destinations for wildlife are:

Galapagos Islands
an archipelago with amazing endemic creatures such as the giant turtle and the sea iguana. The Galapagos Islands belong to Ecuador

Amazon Basin
the Santa Rosa area in Bolivia and the Pantanal in Brazil with anacondas, crocodiles, capybaras and piranhas

Peninsula Valdez
in Patagonian Argentina with the beautiful right southern whales

My favorites destinations for nature are:

The Andes
covering Venezuela, Colombia, Ecuador, Peru, Bolivia, Chile and Argentina. The majestic mountains that cover the Andes are too much for words, great hiking opportunities.

Cotopaxi National Park
with Cotopaxi, the highest active volcano of the world

Torres del Paine National Park
amazing hiking opportunities in Torres del Paine in Patagonian Chile

Salar de Uyuni
biggest salt flat of the world in Bolivia, a tour to the Salar de Uyuni takes you into the desert with the red and green lakes, fish island, geysers and the most beautiful starry night you've ever seen.

Lake Titicaca
the highest navigable lake in the world, Lake Titicaca is sacred and mystical. It lies on the borders of Bolivia and Peru.

Hope this gets you on your way in choosing a country in South America.

Best wishes,

Mark
