Flights and money

Im in the middle of the process of deciding of where i´m going to travel from september this year, and one of the alternatives are of course south america! And ofcourse, some questions pops up in my head. First of all, could someone help me pointing out some good cities to fly to? The prices varies alot depending on different countries etc. The flight ticket to Santiago is twice the price for the ticket to Rio de janerio for example. Is there a gateway-city for SA like bangkok is for south-east asia?

Last and final question ( for now , if i travel in south america for about 6 months, will a budget on 25 USD per day be enough? expensive tours etc not included ofcourse. just food and accomdomdosmdation. ( you get it ).

Great to hear you're going to South America. Best cities to fly to are Santiago, Rio de Janeiro and Buenos Aires. There is no gateway-city in South America. Choice of city to fly to will depend on your desired itinerary of course. Don't forget distances are enormous in South America.

Your budget of 25USD/day is perfect. It will cover all basic costs (food, accommodation and overland travel by bus).
